Aces Diamond Rio && Millie Daveys // l u c k . o f . t h e . d i c e \\ I leaned forwards in the saddle as the frisky colt half reared. I kept my seat and pushed him forwards into a nice walk, he began prancing as they stepped onto the turf track. The going was good and the sun had just come out from behind a cloud. It shone down on Rio's golden chestnut coat. I loaded him into the started gates, he was great to load, no fuss or tantrums. I waited anxciously in the saddle. After what seemed like hours the buzzer rang, the gates opened and Rio flew out.
He galloped towards the inside rail. I looked down and my hands had somehow grasped at Rio's mane, I looked back up. Rio was thundering down the track. I grabbed Rio's mane again as he sped around the corner, it was like he almost forgot to slow down.
I kicked him on down the back straight. As we came to the two furlong marker I again kicked him on, I lowered my position and moved with his head. The one furlong marker was aproaching, and we soon flew past it. I tapped him with my crop, and then again. He really got himself into gear and began to speed down the track. We were nearly at the finishing line. Rio's head was 'bobbing' forwards, and I went with it. We thundered past the finishing line!
I brought Rio to a gradual halt, and gave him a pat. I slung my leg over the saddle and hopped off. Then I un-did his girth and took this saddle off, then led him back to his stable.
