Beyond Expectations and Jaymee-Leigh Smith
[..moving on..]
It was early morning I had just finished the morning feeds and given all of the horses a hay net, except one; Beyond Expectations or Bee as I call her. She was a black thoroughbred, nearly 6 months old. She was kept seperate from the other horses, she had to be weaned early and won't let anyone near her now. Also she gets vicious and dangerous. Her trust had to be gained.
Now I had to try to feed her. The feed bucket was easy, I could just drop it in, which I did. Bee reared up and cantered around the pen. I stepped back, and she darted up to the fence, as if to say back off. She jerked down to her food bucket and began to eat, but only for a few seconds then she sharply raised her head and began looking around. I decided to go inside to start mucking out, to let Bee eat her food in as much peace as she would allow herself to get.
When I came back out she was stood staring around her. Then she noticed me and reared up, with her legs lashing out, and then she came back down. I needed to give her her hay and muck out the pen, but nobody could get in without getting hurt, still I decided to give it a go. I walked up to the fence with some carrots. I knew she wanted some, but I also knew that she wouldn't come to take them. I stood there for 15 minutes or so, while she cantered around, reared and bucked.
Then she came close to me, I reached out for her but she cantered off. I didn't want to stress her out, so let her be, until the next feed.
