DESTINED FOR GLORY AND ROSIE WILSON
DESTINED FOR GLORY AND ROSIE WILSON
I picked up the dandy brush and imediatly got to work on brushing down the muddy brown filly. Destiny stood there quietly as I brushed at her back and shoulders, then her legs. It took a bit to get rid of the dirt and stains but she looked better for it after. I gave her mane a quick go through with a plastic comb and then sectioned it, ready to plait. I carefully plaited up all twelve sections; securing them with an elastic band and then roling them up into little balls, again securing them with an elastic band. Next I used the plastic curry comb and some detangler to brush the knots and tangles out of Destiny's sleek brown tail. When I had done that I picked 3 small sections from the top of the tail, and french plaited it down to the end of the dock, then I just began plaiting it normally and looped it to make it look neat on the end. I then picked up the rubber curry comb and rubbed in circles over Destiny's body, which brought up a bit of dust. I then used the flick brush to flick it all off. Desinty stood there quietly, occasionally shifting her weight from leg to leg, flicking her ears or turning to watch me. I continued brushing over Destiny with the body brush and her face. When she was spotless I picked up the hoof pick and first asked her to pick up her front-right hoove. She did this nicely and I picked out the little dirt from her foot, avoiding her frog and then brushed any small remains away with the minature brush on the end of the hoof pick. I did the same with Destiny's other three hooves, all of which she was happy to lift up and keep there. After I had finished I gave her a little stroke on her face and then momentarilly left her to fetch her tack... When I appeared back with her tack Destiny's ears flicked back and forth; as if she was deciding whether or not she wanted to be ridden. However in the end they ended up forwards. I hung her bridle up on a hook, whilst I placed the saddle cloth over Destiny's back and then placed the small-lightweight racing saddle on top of that. I then did the girth up loosely. Next I un-buckled the nose band on her headcollar and pushed the headcollar down her neck; so I could put her bridle on without un-tieing her. I picked up the bridle, reins and maritngale up; placing the reins and martingale over Destiny's head and down her neck. I raised the bit to Destiny's mouth, which she gladly accepted. Then I put her ears through the bridle and sorted out the cheek pieces and noseband. I then fastened the noseband and throatlash. I went back to Destiny's girth and did it fully up ready to ride. I un-buckled the headcollar from around her neck and led her around to the mounting block ready to ride...
