DESTINED FOR GLORY RIDDEN BY JAYMEE-LEIGH SMITH[/center]
I mounted the dark brown filly as she stood quietly, waiting. She shifted slightly under my weight. I urged Destiny in a walk, I directed her down the drive and we headed towards the turf practice track. As we entered the track Destiny seemed to perk up some more. I urged her into an enerjetic canter, which she was happy to do. We began to soar down the track, close to the inner rail. I didn't want to do too much with her today. I was probably going to give her a canter and then a light gallop for a furlong or so. I steadied her pace, collecting her up; so as her legs were not flying around ahead of her. She was full of energy and bounce today, she hadn't been ridden for a while and I was planning to race her very soon. As we came to a bend, we had been cantering for around two furlongs. Destiny took the corner well, she kept her speed. I continued to gallop her half way down the straight; which made four furlongs. I shortened up my reins and softly asked for a gallop. Destiny immediatly quickened her pace and she had a nice transition into gallop. She had a long stride and she tore the turf up like the speed demon she was. Soon we had run half a furlong and she was going well. I pushed her quicker and Destiny responded. She had incredible speed, though she was never bred to be a sprinter, turns out that is what she is best at. Destiny ended her workout with a brilliant gallop, to be proud of. I gradually brought her to walk and exited the track, letting her cool off on the way back to the yard.
