Criss Cross ridden by Rae Curiosity
Cristy walked onto the dirt. Her feet sunk in, and she loved it. Rae felt the sun shine down upon her and she grinned. Perfect weather for a gallop with Millie and Dream, eh? Cristy looked confused. Millie is coming on with her top racer, Once Upon A Dream. Cristy whinnied, as to say yea, lovin' this already.

Once Upon A Dream ridden by Millie Daveys I mounted the chestnut filly a few yards away from the track enterance. She waited patiently, but as soon as I mounted she shifted and began walking. I made her stand for a few seconds and then pushed her on into a brisk walk, we entered the dirt track and moved swiftly across the centre of the dirt. Today Maddie and I would be working with Rae and her new grade one mare, Criss Cross. When Maddie was moving well up the track I pushed her into a speedy working trot and automatically posted to her strides. As we came up to the three furlong marker I felt Maddie was ready for a canter, I quickened her trot then balanced her with a half halt. I pushed her on into a canter and I sat deep in the saddle moving slightly with her. I saw Rae and her mare entering the track ahead, I pulled Maddie up, bringing her to a walk. Maddie and I walked towards Rae and her thoroughbred, I brought Maddie to a halt beside the other pair. Hey Rae, Crissy's looking good today! I'm sure these two 'll have a blast!

Rae grinned. Thanks, so is Dream. These two will fly. I can tell. Cristy leapt forward raring to go. Cristy can manage distances reaching about two miles. Her shortest is seven furlongs. Cristy whinned.

Once Upon A Dream ridden by Millie Daveys I'm wanting to build Maddie's stamina so how about sixteen furlongs then. Usually she only runs up to twelve, but like I say I've been building her up. I smiled to Rae warmly. Maddie shifted with boardom, she got board very quickly. I pushed her into a walk and then trot, parrallel to Cristy and Rae, we made our way up the track After a while of troting Maddie began to get restless, I pushed her into a good, balanced canter and we worked our way around the course. So, do you want to start in the gates? I asked Rae, before continuing down the straightline in a canter. [/blockquote]

Criss Cross ridden by Rae Curiosity Rae thought. Two miles is normally ran over turf without gates. But this is dirt. I don't really want Cristy going ahead too soon after bursting from gate, so I'd say no gate. The starter climbed up the steps, and got the wire ready. Cristy pawed and whinnied. You go up ahead first, and we'll stalk until around five furlongs. I'll come level. Rae smiled. Good girl Cristy, we'll take it easy.criss crossin dreams ♥

Once Upon A Dream ridden by Millie Daveys I listened whilst Rae replied, and then I spoke, Okay then, no gates! We continued swiftly down the track, and then came to a halt before the wire. Maddie was becoming anxious and excited. Okay then, but I don't want to take it too quick. Only a slow gallop and then we'll move up at around one furlong left. I sat in the saddle, waiting for the wire to lift. 3..2...1... I counted down in my head, the sieren sounded, the wire lifted and Maddie automatically lept forward into a gallop down the rail. Go, go, go I said to myself as we set off. We rested just above Rae and Cristy at a good steady pace. I didn't want to push Maddie too much as it was just to build stamina really. We galloped the first two furlongs silently. We then aproached the bend, Maddie tugged at the bit, I pulled back, Oi missy! Maddie gave up and then focused her mind back to running, what she did best. I half halted as we took the corner; balancing Maddie. As we came back out onto the straight line and passed the four furlong marker the position still had not changed and Maddie was going well.

Criss Cross ridden by Rae Curiosity As the siren sounded, Cristy set off at a slow canter, a length behind the chestnut filly behind. Her ears pricked, and she resumed a low head carriage. Cristy stumbled and almost messed up. Her head came to the floor, but Rae pulled it up, and resumed concentration. She was now somewhat four lengths of the pace. Upon the inside, Cristy and Maddie were now stride for stride. Take it easy together, ok? Rae asked Millie. Criss Cross went half a length ahead, pulling the reins from Rae's grip. Hey! Pack up! Rae gathered her reins once again and continued to gallop. They stayed next to Maddie and Millie. criss crossin dreams ♥

We aproched the five furlong marker and Rae and Cristy moved up to come level with us. So, actually I think I'll just gently run her the sixteen furlongs and leave it at that, I don't want to push her at the end after a long run. Maddie tried it on with me, atempting to go quicker as Crissy ran next to her. I tugged back on the reins, telling her to give up. She listened to me and began to run calmly again. A bend was ahead, I prepared Maddie by half halting her she listened carfully and took the corner, it barely penitrated her speed. We came out of the bend and onto the straightline. We passed the eight furlong marker, half way through the run and Maddie was still going strong.

Once Upon A Drem ridden by Millie Daveys Maddie and I were running sound down the straight. After what seemed hours we came to the ten furlong marker. Maddie tried to quicken her speed, as she usually only ran to twelve furlongs. I half halted her with my ring finger and she responded eventually and slowed her pace back down. Now we were about a length and a half infront of Rae and Crissy. We completed our eleventh furlong as we aproached the second bend on the track. Like the first Maddie kept into the rail and also kept up her speed. As we came back out onto the straight I caught a glimpse of Rae and Crissy a length behind us.

Criss Cross ridden by Rae Curiosity Rae saw Maddie and Millie go ahead. Rae gave Cristy a reminder, and they caught up with her. Head to head, they turned into the home stretch, with 3 furlongs, or 600m to go. They kept going at 2 furlongs, then at 1, until they crossed the line together, stride for stride. criss crossin dreams ♥

Well done. I said softly to Maddie. I stood in my stirrup irons, asking Maddie to slow. Eventually she came to a walk, I let her on a long rein and she took it. I ran my fingers through the sorrel mane quietly as Maddie cooled down. When we were done I dimounted and then led her off the track, yelling to Rae as we went, Bye Rae! Well done! I was extremely pleased with Maddie's performance. I was sure her stamina would build quickly. [/blockquote]
