THIS MEANS WAR RIDDEN BY MILLIE DAVEYS
Race day was soon approaching. Millie was very pleased with Ans’ previous workouts which had been working towards Ans’ upcoming race Turn Up The Heat Stakes. There was some fierce competition in the race. Ans had had a short break from racing for the past couple of weeks and Millie was hoping that this had paid off well. Ans moved swiftly down the track. His head was held high and it bobbed as he walked along. Millie sat quietly in the saddle allowing him to pick his own way. He took the most obvious and instinctive place on the track, the inner rail. His walk was a consistent speed and he soon made his way down the track. Millie asked Ans for a trot. He stepped forwards into a lovely forward going trot, but he did not let his legs run away from himself. His trot was lovely and flowing and it carried him quickly across the dirt. Today Millie just wanted to give him a good solid run to let him stretch his legs before race day. Ans had great presence on the track and always impressed. As another colt came cantering closely past Ans pricked his ears up and sped up his trot. Whoah boy, Millie laughed. Ans calmed his trot again and listened closely and contently. We’re not off yet! Ans settled once again into his lovely trot and covered the ground in no time at all. As they came off the straight and onto the turn Millie asked Ans for a canter. He sprung into a nice flowing pace and settled on the inner rail in his magnificent pace.
