Millie Daveys takes Josh Ville to look around paddocks.
Now she was with the horses she felt more at home and that she finally had something she could confidently talk about. These are our upcoming stars. We have some real good blood in these lot, the most exciting we've had in a while. See the black filly over there? Dare To Impress, sired by none other that Tripple Crown winner Impressario and out of our very own HoF Dare To Dream. We have high hopes for her, she's already entered in the SOPS Best Bred Tournament, I'm sure you've heard of it? Josh was leant over the top rail of the fences, looking at the youngsters intently, carefully studying each one. After a few seconds he replied, Sure have. Erm, who are those two over there? He nodded in the direction of two youngsters at the top of the field. The bay and the black? That's Baciami and National Treasure. Baciami only recently joined us from Intrepid racing, he's a Comeuppance weanling. And National Treasure, well we bred her ourselves. She's out of our Precocious and by Stride of Perfection's Grand Silence! Josh nodded in aproval. Wow, Comeuppance was a real nice racer, as was Grand Silence. I never heard much of Precocious when she was on the track, but I researched the horses here and I know she's dam to Daydream, who's proving herself relatively well. Millie smiled at the praised of her horses, it was nice to have recognision of her good work form others.
A few moments went past in silence. Take Flight and Starlite, two weanling colts, wondered over to the fence. Josh smiled at their arival, Hey boy! He patted Take Flight's neck. Millie turned her body to face towards him, Whoah! Don't break him! Millie said jokingly. He's an upcoming star for sure! He's no other that a Merry Bay King baby! Out of Flying Loose and full sibling to Simply A Flyer. We made a private arrangement with Stride of Perfection Stables and a year later we aquired this big boy. Take Flight was Millie's pride and joy, he would be her ride for sure when he finally struck two years old. And the other? Jake asked as he nodded towards Starlite. Well he's nothing to be looked over either, Millie stated. By HoF Pegasus Wings and out of our very own champion Once Upon A Dream! He should make a sprint horse someday.
Josh was very impressed with all of the yearlings, but he wondered about the rest of the horses too, the racers and the retireds. So, the others? The racers? Josh asked. Millie nodded towards the barn that could be seen down in the valley. They're there. They've all been brought in today as we're having a big workout day! Millie stepped away from the fence and stepped back towards the quad. Josh didn't even seem to notice as he was still gazing at the foals. I'm driving this time! Millie shouted back over to him, as to catch his attention. Josh quickly looked behind him and smiled, he headed over to the quad and climbed on behind Millie.
C'mon then. He spoke quietly into Millie's ears. Everything he did seemed to make Millie blush. She did not reply, but started up the quad and sped off own towards the yard. Josh smiled and shook his head as he grabbed hold of Millie's small waist. In minutes they had arived at the yard. Millie stopped outside the barn and turned off the ignition. Josh jumped off and held a hand out to Millie to asisst her. She paused for a moment and looked at him before reaching out for his hand and stepping off the quad...
