Smarty's Dream and Millie Daveys
Hosing down after [STEEMING ahead]
I led the mud covered filly into the lean-too. I undid the girth and lifted the saddle off of her sweaty drenched back. Then I put a headcollar around her neck, clipped a lead rein to it and tied her up. Then I undid her throat lash, nose band and flash on the bridle, Sweetie lowered her head to allow me to take off the bridle, which I did and then slid the reins off her neck and over her head. I put the bridle over the saddle and gave it to Jaymie-Leigh to take back to the tack room. I then walked back over to Sweeite who nickered to me softly. I slid the headcollar up her neck, just behind her ears, then I put it over her nose so it was on properly. I untied the lead rope from the ring and led Sweetie around the side of the stables, near to the arena and tied her up there.
I brought the hose pipe out and turned it on, Sweetie jumped and kicked out with her back leg. She started pounding the ground with her fore legs and snorted grumpily. She was always acting up like this. I simply ignored her and turned the hose pipe on her. She gave a little squeel and tried to rear up. "Oh give up, you silly girl!" I said to her, sighing at the same time. I continued to hose the mud off her from the previous race. Then I turned the hose off, and Sweetie seemed to relax a bit.
I picked up the sweat scrapper and scrapped all of the excess water off her. Then I decided I would attempt to pick out her feet. I lifted the two front hooves up without much of a struggle. But I hated doing her back hooves, she cow kicks. I lifted one up and she slammed it back down, then I tried it again. After a few atempts of trying, I eventually picked them both out.
I went to the rug racks, and picked out Sweeties starry rug, to keep her warm whilst she was drying off. I carried it back to Sweetie, and as soon as she saw it she turned her bum to me, I sighed again and just shuved her bum out of the way, catching her slightly off balance. Then I imediatly threw the rug over her back before she could do anything. She gave a little buck to try and get the rug off, but it just flopped over a little. I folded it back over and clipped it up.
Then I unclipped the lead rope and led her back to her stable by her headcollar. When she was in I took her headcollar off and put the chain on her stable door way.
