Dare To Dream && Millie Daveys
dreams CAN come TRUE
I led the young filly outside onto the soft ground, it was cold. Sonyador snorted and pounded at the ground. I placed the saddle over her back and the bridle and reins over her head. I put my foot into the stirrup, pulled myself up, slung my other leg over and put my foot into the stirrup. I held the reins and squeezed her sides. She set of at a quick walk, we headed towards the track. As I looked up the clouds shifted and the sun shone.
Sonyador stepped on to the firm turf of the track. The sun shining brightly on the young filly's bright chestnut neck. She tossed up her head and troted over to the gate. She was loaded. In the gate she danced and tossed her head around. Ready! A voice shouted from the side line. I lowered my head, deepend my heals, tightend my grip on the reins and sat deeper in the saddle. Three, I could hear the bit moving in Sonyador's mouth. Two, she pawed at the ground. One, she lowered her head. Ring! The bell rang and the gate opened. Sonya flew out almost catching the gate.
She lowered her head and got hold of the bit. We quickly sped up the first side, Sonya was flying today. Her legs almost couldn't keep up with her. She ran close into the rail, her body was splattered with mud. The sun shone even brighter onto her neck as we aproached the first corner. I spoke to her softly as she leaned slightly to one side, she ran upright again as we came to a long stretch of flat. Sonyador quickend her pace as she sped down the rail. I held on tight, we came to the second and last corner. All to be heard was Sonya's hooves and Sonya's breath. The ground thundered as she galloped around the corner. The finish line was in sight. Sonya lowered her head, pulled down on the bit, fixed her eyes on the finish line and quickend her speed. She flew down the last stretch, I softly taped her sides and she galloped across the finish line.
She was flying! As she came to a halt I patted her neck and took my feet out of the stirrups. I slid off her back and held the reins under her neck. Finally I led her back to the stables to have a nice long rest before the big race.
